PASCAL Universities Regional Engagement (PURE) project

PURE is a major international study undertaken by PASCAL International Observatory and operated through CR&DALL from the University of Glasgow.

PURE has extended and developed previous work of the OECD to a series of new regions, and develops PASCAL International themes through applied consultancy. Nineteen regions were involved in the first cohort from 2009 to 2011. A number of new regions are expected to join in 2011 and beyond.

The central purpose of PURE is to improve what happens in regions, continuing and sustaining good practices.  GU Staff Involved : Mike Osborne (Business Director) and Chris Duke (Academc Director).

The impact of research has been growing ever more important not only in its own right, but as a factor that feeds into funding decisions at both institutional and individual levels. We are therefore pleased to present a Working Paper written by the Director of PASCAL and CR&DALL, Professor Mike Osborne, in which he assesses the cumulative impact of research that assesses the cumulative effect of research that has systematically measured, mapped and analysed learning provision at urban/regional level, contributing internationally to developing learning cities over decades.

Fostering sustainable and green communities through lifelong learning for all (Lifelong Learning Festival)

This online event is part of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities Lifelong Learning Festival from 30 October to 3 November 2023 being held in Shanghai, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Global Network of Learning Cities. Amongst those attending the festival in person will be CR&DALL Associate Member, Judith James. From CR&DALL, we congratulate the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning on its acheivements in the learning city field over the last 10 years.

In Memoriam - Chris Duke

It is with great sadness that we report of the death of one of the leading lights of adult education of the 20th and 21st century, Professor Chris Duke. Chris, amongst many other positions was a visiting professor at the University of Glasgow, and made extensive practical and conceptual contributions to CR&DALL in the past two decades.
