I am very pleased to report that Dr Keneilwe Molisi, formally a PhD student in the School of Education, and more recently a Lecturer in Adult Education at the University of Botswana, has been granted a Fulbright scholarship opportunity at Penn State University. As per the requirements of the program, she will be traveling to the US in January 2020 for 3 months to work on her research titled, Empowering rural communities through capacity development of community leaders. It is excellent to see our former students progressing so well.

The St Andrew’s Clinics for Children (STACC) is a charity which was established by staff at the University of Glasgow in 1992, and over the 27 years since then STACC has provided free healthcare to over 1.5 million children in Africa.

The annual HELLIN conference will take place at the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) on December 11, 2019 with the theme of "Lifelong learning: Preparing For Our Future World". The Organising Committee is now issuing a Call for Papers and Poster presentations.

ALP started as an Adult Education and Community Development Project in September 1979. A local group of women, with the help of the Community Education workers, had applied for the funding following a successful pilot in the community.

Education in Greece at the upper secondary level is dominated by the Panhellenic exams; they will decide to which university a student will go and what they will study. Little thought is given to upper secondary vocational education and training (VET) for 16 to 18 year-olds, even though it can offer better job prospects than general education.

What is happening around lifelong learning these days? How are countries making lifelong learning a reality? What are the latest developments in policy and practice? This is issue No 11, 31 July 2019, of the UIL Lifelong Learning Alert.

This international conference will bring together adult learners, tutors, delegates and participants from the different UNESCO member states around the world, along with strategic partners, towards the achievement of SDG 4. The theme of the conference is Enhancing the participation of literacy learners and tutors in literacy and lifelong learning”.
