International rankings place Russia close to the bottom of indices for both peacefulness and democracy, despite opinion polls and surveys showing that the general public embraces democratic ideals. Education at all levels from school to lifelong learning plays a key role in establishing norms and aspirations for peace, security and democracy. Join speakers Yulia Nesterova and Daria Khanolaine for an interactive seminar including presentation and discussion of key insights and reflections from a research project that focussed on education, peace, and security in Russia.

The latest issue of RELA (Volume 15, Number 2) is now available. This open issue features six papers covering a diverse range of topics, including quality in adult education, numeracy education, and education within political parties, among others.

This is a special year for for the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA); we turn 50. This is reflected in our theme as we discuss 'Education in a Fragile World: Past, Present, Future' at the University of Dundee from the 27^th -29^th November 2024. A new book "Adult Education and Social Justice: International Perspectives" was published just before Xmas 2023 in honour of the adult educator par excellence, Professor Lalage Bown, who died just over two years ago. Edited by Maria Slowey, Heribert Hinzen, Michael Omolewa and myself, it contains contributions from many esteemed adult educators, many from the core CR&DALL team and others beyond, particularly those with connections to Africa.
