CR&DALL director, Professor Michael Osborne was amongst those inducted into the University of Oklahoma’s International Hall of Fame on 28 September 2022 at a ceremony hosted by University College Cork, during the ‘Learning Cities Week’, in Cork, Ireland.

The Hall of Fame honors leaders in the fields of continuing education and adult learning. and selects annually leaders from around the world reflecting the great diversity of adult and continuing education practice and scholarship for induction into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame.
 
Professor Michael Osborne was nominated by Dr Pat Davies, who introduced him to delegates, and Professor Simona Sava (University of Timisoara, Romania). He joins the late Professor Lalage Bown and Professor Maria Slowey, former chairs of adult education at the University of Glasgow, as members of the Hall of Fame, and is the second Cornishman in the hall, alongside Sir Alan Tuckett. Both Sir Alan and Professor Slowey were present.
 
Professor Michael Osborne was chosen for his intense and rich activity as a researcher in adult education, for his commitment to the dissemination of adult education in the UK and in the world, and for the intense international relations that have allowed him to create collaborations with researchers engaged in adult learning throughout the world. As he himself had the opportunity to underline, in offering thanks for the prestigious award received, the collaborations that he has fomented have allowed adult education to flourish locally, have had a strong impact in various territories around the world, and have contributed to both theory-building and learning-informed practices for local and regional development. In this regard, we should remember his intense activity in the support of the development of learning cities, a model that is now widespread in the world, thanks also to the close collaboration with UNESCO.
