From 15 to 17 June 2022, education experts from around the world will come together for the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII) in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco, to formulate and strengthen UNESCO Member States’ commitment to ensuring that all adults can benefit from learning opportunities.

Conference plenary sessions featuring high-level speakers
The CONFINTEA programme features interventions by the UNESCO Director-General, His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, the President of Ethiopia, the President of the UNESCO General Conference, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, education ministers from around the world and high-level representatives of the United Nations, as well as internationally renowned adult learning and education experts.

CONFINTEA promotes participatory engagement through 20 workshops
CONFINTEA VII participants will be encouraged to collaboratively exchange views on challenges to and solutions for specific themes related to adult learning and education (ALE) by means of 20 workshops being held throughout the conference. Organized by 25 different organizations, the workshops will address ALE policies, gender equality, literacy, learning cities, the future of work and much more. |

On 15 June 2022 (13:15–14:45 [GMT+1]), the fifth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE 5) will be launched during a ministerial panel at CONFINTEA VII. GRALE monitors the implementation of adult learning and education across the globe. It combines survey data, policy analysis and case studies to provide
policy-makers and practitioners with sound recommendations and examples of good practice. This thematic focus of GRALE 5
is citizenship education. |

The CONFINTEA VII conference documents are now available online. The draft Marrakech Framework for Action, provisional rules of procedure, annotated agenda and background publications, including the regional CONFINTEA VII consultation reports, and much more can be found on UIL’s dedicated CONFINTEA VII website. |

CONFINTEA VII Private Sector Forum
On 14 June 2022, the pre-conference Private Sector Forum will gather representatives of the private sector, governments, multilateral organizations, trade unions, youth organizations, NGOs, educators and learners. It will reflect on the contributions and best practices of private actors and their evolving role in the provision of adult learning and education. The session will identify potential pathways to improve private sector engagement and establish a stronger ecosystem in the promotion of lifelong learning and skills. |

Launch of UIL’s Making Lifelong Learning a Reality: A Handbook
The international launch of UIL’s publication, Making Lifelong Learning a Reality: A Handbook, will take place on 17 June 2022, the final day of CONFINTEA VII. The handbook provides education stakeholders with information, evidence and basic conceptual models to facilitate the implementation of lifelong learning at national and local levels. |
