You are invited to a seminar hosted by the Centre for Research and Development in Adult and Lifelong Learning (CR&DALL), the Robert Owen Centre and the Urban Big Data Centre, all University of Glasgow, on the topic of Quantitative Approaches to Educational Research.

This seminar is being held on Thursday 10 November from 1330 to 1645 in Room 237b, St Andrews Building, University of Glasgow, 11 Eldon St, Glasgow G3 6NH. This event seeks to frame recent and current quantitative research at the University of Glasgow in the field of education and cognate areas within the context of current Scottish Government policy. Keynote Speaker

Dr Audrey MacDougall is the Scottish Government’s Chief Social researcher and Head of Education Analysis, Intelligence and Performance. The latter is a Division providing research, economic and statistical analysis covering all aspects of education from pre-­- school to adult skills. Her role as Chief Social Researcher means she is responsible for the overall quality and development of social research across Government.

Audrey studied Maths in University College Dublin and then moved to London where she became trained as a Chartered Accountant. In 1995 she moved to Edinburgh where she became an Assistant Director in the Infrastructure and Government Department in KPMG responsible for best value and consultancy assignments across the public sector in Scotland. While at KPMG she completed an MBA.

In 2002, looking for a change in direction Audrey spent 18 months on secondment to the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit in Whitehall where she project managed two policy development projects: workforce development and sport, offering advice to Ministers including the Prime Minister. Following this she returned to the University of Edinburgh where she completed a PhD on strategy making in the UK government(s) post devolution. Audrey joined the Scottish Government in 2006 and was appointed to her current position in November 2011. During her time with the Scottish Government she has worked on a range of high profile issues including Welfare Reform, Higher Education Funding and the National Improvement Framework.
