Summary biography:
I am a Lecturer in Higher Education and Comparative International Education at the School of Education, University of Glasgow. Prior to joining Glasgow in 2023, I held roles as a Lecturer and Research Associate at the Ontario Institute for Studies of Education (OISE), University of Toronto. My previous work experiences also encompassed positions as a Research Associate at York University in Canada, a Lecturer at the University of Toronto Mississauga, a Lecturer at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and a Project Manager for educational publications at Shanghai International Studies University.
My educational and professional background, as well as my extensive experience, are rooted in various facets of higher education, including sociology of education, student development and success, international comparative education, and research methodology. My research primarily revolves around the intricate ways in which higher education fosters students' capabilities development for both career advancement and overall personal growth within diverse societal contexts. I approach this investigation through a comparative lens, with a particular emphasis on promoting equity and inclusion.

My research projects can be categorized into three main strands:
1) Analyzing the Impact of Social, Political, Economic, and Historical Factors on Higher Education Institutions and Higher Education Policies:
I explore how distinct social, political, economic, and historical factors exert influence on higher education institutions and policies across various settings. Additionally, I investigate how higher education can actively counter neocolonialism by incorporating values from a range of traditions. This integration aims to create a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive future of higher education in the globalized society.
2) Examining the Role of Cultural Traditions and Social Values in Higher Learning:
Within this strand, I investigate the ways in which cultural traditions and social values shape curriculum, pedagogy, and educational models within higher learning. This exploration contributes to the holistic development of individuals and the cultivation of engaged global citizens, well-prepared for our interconnected global society.
3) Utilizing Mixed Methods for Comprehensive Analysis of Higher Education Outcomes:
Employing a mixed-methods design, I delve into the outcomes of higher education teaching and learning. I rigorously evaluate the interplay between the university/college experience and the enhancement of capabilities, student development, academic success and employability, and overall well-being and life flourishing.
My research underscores the significance of higher education in fostering social change and individual growth. By examining the multifaceted dimensions of higher education, I aim to illuminate pathways for cultivating more inclusive, diverse, and prosperous societies.
